Disloyal Brooklyn

White supremacy. To be patriotic, you have to be knowingly or unknowingly complicit in the oppression of those that have less in life and continuously in support of the terror US politicians and corporations unleash on Black American people.

Darker skin, less money, a criminal record, a boss that wants to hinder your career, an ex that doesn’t love you anymore. Create a storyline. Whatever it takes. To oppress Black American descendant of slave.

Whatever excuse to enslave.

Whatever excuse to keep Jim crow in power.

No one in Brooklyn is from Brooklyn. No one in Brooklyn is even from New York. Raised by Brooklyn, before the new buildings and restaurants and white faces deciding Brooklyn isn’t for Brooklyn babies. No voice, no power, no way to save itself for any Brooklyn not conformed to the Brooklyn that doesn’t look anything like Brooklyn.

Brooklyn is the most disloyal place in New York.

White Mans Mania

The white mans definition of mania for black people:

Any form of consistent productivity fueled by and in coexistence with a rage about racism and oppression.

Additionally for a black woman; consistent productivity fueled by and in coexistence with a rage about racism, oppression and sexism, particularly against the black woman in question.

To Arianna Anais Butler, The love of my life.

What really makes you happy?

What are your triggers?

What are your wounds?

How can I heal you?

How can I pray for you?

How can I consider you?

In what ways do you need me to be patient & understanding with you?

How can I love you in the places you are hurting?

How can I support you in being the mother you envision?

These are some of the questions I am beginning to ask myself. I watched a video of a woman explaining the importance of treating oneself like the true love of our lives. Like the actual only person we have to, better yet, get to spend our lives with. The importance of asking ourselves all the questions we’d ask a lover that needed us. Here is a list of questions I am beginning to ask myself. Here is the start of me remembering that I am the true love of my life.
